Save Hampshire teenager Walid Durani from imminent deportation. Let him stay.

Walid Durani arrived in Hampshire when he was 14 and is an integrated and valued member of his community. His family fled the Taliban following the kidnapping of his father and the killing of his grandfather.

Since turning 18 he said he has been told he will be deported to Afghanistan, where he knows no-one and faces enormous risk. His sister also lives in the UK and the rest of his family are in Austria. He is fully westernised having attended school and college here which will put him in even more danger if he is deported to Afghanistan. Sending Walid back to Afghanistan is dangerous, cruel and irresponsible - his life will be at risk.

Walid has an apprenticeship and was highly commended in last year's Young Builder of the Year Awards. He has friends and family here and is a well respected employee. He pays tax and national insurance and is described as a polite and hard working young man. Walid is a great asset to society and the local community. If he is removed and sent to Kabul, a place where he has no family or friends, he awaits a terrifying unknown fate.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office advise against travel in Afghanistan. "There is a high threat from terrorism. Multiple threats are issued daily. Terrorists and insurgents conduct frequent and widespread lethal attacks against Afghan National Defence and Security Forces (ANDSF), domestic and international political and civilian targets, and those working in the humanitarian and reconstruction fields. There is a threat from high-profile, large-scale attacks in Kabul." This is not a safe place to send a teenage boy, it is not a safe place to send anyone.

Please support Walid by signing and sharing this petition. Let him stay.

Last year the British court ruled Afghanistan was a safe place for return – to the astonishment of human rights groups and the Afghanistan government itself. This urgently needs to be reviewed.
