Ensure the government allocates specific funding for male domestic violence shelters

Support for Domestic Violence has seen a surge in support over recent years, yet there is one demographic left out of the revolution: men.
In the UK, approximately one third of all domestic abuse cases have a male victim. The same is true for partner violence and stalking. Yet despite this, only 23 organisations provide spaces and refuge for male victims, with a total of 110 spaces, with only 34 providing support for only male victims. There is also not a single safe house in London. An approximate figure for women sees almost 400 specialist organisations with around 4,000 spaces. This disparity needs to change.
This petition calls on the Minister for Equalities, Amber Rudd, to allocate specific funding to ensure adequate support for male victims of domestic violence and abuse, and especially to provide funding for male safe houses.
With all the wonderful work done on behalf of women, we need to ensure we don't leave men behind.
