Small business in particular, need to have the support from the govt to succeed. Many of these businesses are 1 person operations and run by a diverse cross section of society. Many have little alternatives than running a home business and would otherwise need to be on benefits.

It makes imminent sense. Small businesses are the only real vehicles to refuel growth in the UK economy. We must support them!

I've just started my own business and because I am not self employed I am not allowed to claim the 30 hours childcare my Daughter has received your until now. This makes it even harder to dedicate the necessary time that is needed to make a new business a success.

Personally I feel this shouldn't be restricted to start-ups. I was in my 3rd year of running my business when I had my first child and it was impossible for me to keep my head above water. I had to keep the business ticking over as I knew I would come back to it after a year but I had to make a loss during maternity in order to do so. If I'd been able to choose and split my KIT days around my child's needs and perhaps allocate a % of childcare costs towards my working hours like my husband can as he is in employment then my business and income wouldn't have suffered so much.
