Ever since I was a kid, I friggin loved alien movies. You name it, Independence Day, Predator, Aliens, all of it (Nope was dope as well!). But, it's very rare where you see a starring performance be so good that it somehow outshines the fact that aliens are trying to kill us all. It was and is still a disservice that Sigourney Weaver lost out for Best Actress at the 1987 Academy Awards for her work in Aliens. 

We now have a chance to rectify this tragedy. For my money, Amber Midthunder's performance in Prey is absolutely in the same league as Sigourney's in Aliens, and as such, she should AT LEAST be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress. If she wins, this would be a MAJOR win for American sci-fi, something that hasn't happened in a while. If she wins, a woman with Native American ancestry wins the world's biggest award for acting. If she wins, it shows Disney that this movie definitely should have been in theaters and given a chance to rock on it's own, hopefully showing the media conglomerate that Aliens and Predator are both more than viable franchises that deserve more iterations.
