Make the Amazon Rainforest First
Make the Amazon Rainforest First
Throughout the world of finance, investment and real estate, large corporations continue to colonize nature by capturing proprietary rights to the names of wild places and species which they then turn into profit centres.
For example the corporate giant Amazon has colonized the story of this important place on Earth. A search for “Amazon” within any search engine will get pages of search results connected to Amazon the company before any result for the actual geographical place emerges.
This result leads to a misconfigured information culture which over time will come to only know the company far ahead of the Amazon Region. It is with this in mind that we are creating a petition to encourage Google and other Search Engines as well as Amazon the company to place the region “Amazon Rainforest” first as a Search Engine result for any “Amazon” entry; and this result should be above any “paid” Search Engine Listing as well.
Our petition wording is as follows:
"We the undersigned are requesting that Google and other Search Engines position an accurate link which describes the “Amazon Rainforest” as a region in South America as a first result for any search inquiry for “Amazon” and that this search position be a first result ahead of any Search Engine ad or otherwise.”
“In addition, we the undersigned are requesting that the company “Amazon” and its subsidiaries, publicly endorse this effort to place the “Amazon Rainforest” ahead of its individual corporate branding whenever possible”.
It is our hope that this petition and effort garner enough public support to shift the corporate information landscape into the very common sense solution which we are proposing. Failure for companies to act will require that we move this petition into the realm of lawmakers in order to achieve positive results.
