Safety concerns for Amazon delivery drivers in apartment complexes.
As delivery drivers (DAs), we face a safety concern that Amazon needs to address. The delivery of packages to apartment complexes is inefficiently time consuming, extremely strenuous, and poses a safety risk to the driver's health.
A vast majority of apartment complexes have several buildings that are more than one story high, with an unrealistic amount of second, third, and fourth floor deliveries. A great deal of the packages can weigh up to as much as 50lbs, and there could be several of those packages going to the upper floors. Elevators are rare, and if present, are situated in the most inconvenient location for deliveries. Sometimes, several trips have to be made up and down several flights of stairs just to deliver one customer's order. There are dollies for some, but they are completely useless trying to lug up to 50lbs up several flights of stairs.
This is a petition to Amazon to provide every apartment complex in the world with Amazon lockers. By placing lockers at the leasing office, this specific concern for safety would allow the DA to, without risk to body and health, deliver customer packages to one location on ground level in an efficiently productive and safe manner.
