Customers deserve to know where their product is manufactured and sent from, as it’s integral to limit the personal environmental impact of our buying habits. Furthermore, enforcing retailers to display country of origin for the products they sell and allow customers to choose where they buy from empowers us all to make informed and ethical decisions when considering what country and whose regimes we want to give financial resources to. Many countries provide goods ubiquitously in our society, but there is little choice for us to limit how much we buy from them and contribute to their economies. The visibility at retail level would allow consumers to buy more locally to keep down our carbon footprint, and to buy from places with regimes we are comfortable in supporting.
