My reason for starting this petition is due to the sexualization of young girls, specifically in the Halloween costume industry. These companies (Such as Amazon, Target, and Walmart ) are selling skimpy and sexualized costumes to small girls. Some of the costumes they are selling are too small to be practical, let alone to wear on Halloween night. This is wrong. We quite sparingly, if never see this with young boys in Halloween costumes. This is putting pressure on girls to be "sexy" and objectifies them and their bodies from an early age. Studies have proven that this has harmful impacts on mental and physical health for young girls, and can possibly even lead to eating disorders. This is not acceptable. We need to take action to ensure that the costumes being sold in these stores are not inappropriate. Please donate to this petition today to persuade these clothing retailers to stop selling this grotesque and hyper-sexualizing clothing. These are little girls, not objects of pleasure.
