Swipe Out Hunger at Belmont University!
0 have signed. Let’s get to 200!
Belmont students, let me ask you a question: At the end of the week, how many meals do you have left on your dining hall plan? How many declining points do you have on your account?
Each University Dining Service meal plan comes with a set number of “swipes” into the dining hall that expire every week, and declining points every semester. If a student does not utilize the entire plan by the set deadline, then his or her paid meal “swipes” and declining points would expire without reimbursement!
Swipe Out Hunger would allow students with the opportunity to donate any remaining meal plan swipes or points to students on campus struggling with food insecurity, or one of the local non-profits our University affiliates with, during a semester “swipes” drive. The money obtained would be distributed among food insecure students, local food pantries, or local charities through dining hall meal reimbursements. This initiative is currently running on 36 campuses nationwide. The University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) has raised over $153,594 each semester in dining hall swipes and donated the money to student meal vouchers, stocking their on-campus food closet, and making meals to pass out to the homeless population.
Please sign this petition to show your support in implementing a simple way to reduce food insecurity and hunger on the campus of Belmont University and community through the University Dining Hall Services operated by Sodexo.
