As we head into the 2021-2022 school year, we need to acknowledge that this pandemic is not over! Sending our children, not just those too young to be vaccinated, but upper class-men who are immunocompromised or even fearful for their health or the health of their loved ones is not okay. Alvin ISD needs to implement virtual learning options for those students who would appreciate the idea of not being forced to learn in an environment they do not feel safe in.

Per AISD Superintendent, it has been acknowleged that "our students ages 4-11 are our most vulnerable population", so let's do something to help keep them safe as optional masks for students and teachers is not enough as COVID again rages within our community! I challenge Alvin ISD administrators to follow suit with other school districts (Cy Fair, Fort Bend, Conroe and others) and visit the hospitals in our community that are filled to capacity with infants, children and adolescents who are fighting for their lives due to COVID and its variant. After that visit, consider your students, their health and safety and do the right thing....offer virtual learning options for K-6 and require masks for 6th-12th. I am hopeful that funding and politics won't be the reason to ignore the health of our children and families.

By signing this petition, your voice will be heard in support of remote or virtual learning option at Alvin Independent School District. Let's unite to support or children who can't speak for themselves, our community of schools and our educators.
