I find ignorance of the nature of homo sapien race identification quite problematic for any person in public policy or academia. Education is the best defense against poverty. Please demonstrate intelligent leadership by removing this erroneous person from his position.

As an alumni I am shocked, and disgraced to have invested funds to pay for the wages of a dean that continues to perpetuate and speak for policies that oppress and further marginalize the few. This is not acceptable.

Im signing because as alumni of Pepperdine University, I am deeply disappointed and outraged to learn Pete Peterson, Dean of the Pepperdine School of Public Policy, participated in an October 12th email campaign debasing the Pulitzer Prize-winning 1619 Project and a September 3rd radio interview lambasting inclusive historical education.

I have two degrees from Pepperdine. My husband is an alum as well. Both of my parents gave a lifetime of service to Pepperdine. I am ashamed that we are part of the problem of systemic racism in our country instead of being part of the solution.

I attended Pepperdine in the late 1970s and still have fond memories of it. This man's actions have cast a pall on my memories of an accepting and truth-based institution. He should be denounced and fired.

Dean Peterson does not speak for the Pepperdine community. It's completely unacceptable that he violated policy to suggest that he does. He knew what he was doing was a policy violation, and he did it to advance his personal political agenda. No second chances. Pepperdine needs a dean who can follow the rules and has an ethical character.

His efforts to disparage education on ignored history makes him the worst model for higher education!

Mr. Peterson has put the University into an untenable position. Mr. Peterson has abused his leadership position to advocate his personal opinions and is, by his own words, doing exactly what he thinks the "other" is doing. To compound this egregious behavior, he also shown a concerning lack of judgement. At the very least, Mr. Peterson should be removed as the Dean. At best, he should resign.

Right or left, we are Christians and must not tarnish our Christian witness, nor the university's.
