Save Delgado TV and radio program

I’m petitioning today in regards to the closing of the Television and Radio Department at Delgado Community College. As alumni, we are very disappointed that such an influential program in our community will be gone forever. Many of us have moved on to very prestigious jobs all over the country. Our professors continue to be our mentors and not a day goes by that we don’t remember our studies and life experiences that we gained by being part of it. Quite often students are hired to intern for various positions usually ending as a paid position. All of us have been that hungry student trying to make it. Past Alumni periodically contact Lynn to hire young production assistants for major sports networks, local news, public broadcast, festivals, and a variety of events. It’s our way of giving back and supporting the program.
Maybe we should have expressed sooner how impactful the department is to the community. We are begging that this decision can be reconsidered. This is the only college left that produces TV Production students. The DCC studio uses the same professional equipment used in studio and remote shows all across this city and nation. Now local and national networks will have to hire students from out of state to fill these gaps.
If there is anything we can do to change this decision we will be willing to help. Please reconsider this decision.
