Do you live in Cornwall, Goshen, Litchfield, Morris, Thomaston, Torrington, Warren, or Watertown?  Then read on ...

For 24 years, since Cablevision  was first allowed to offer cable TV service in our area, Neighborhood News on Cable Channel 5 has been the most current and best source of truly local news available.  Each day, through the excellent efforts of newsman Jeff Zeiner, Neighborhood News has provided a place for politicians, leaders, charities, schools and anyone else to tell their story to the 23,500 subscribers of Optimum cable in our community.

This professionally produced news service is the ONLY daily TV news outlet available that covers our area. Whether it is the latest recital at one of our elementary schools, or a plea for help from the local Food Bank, or one of our leaders explaining the latest town initiatives, the Neighborhood  News has helped to make our small community one in which we know our neighbors a little bit better.

Dutch-owned firm Altice USA, the new owners of Optimum, have announced that Neighborhood News has been canceled  as part of their reported efforts to cut costs from Optimum's operations.   They plan to replace the local Neighborhood News with their News12 production from Fairfield County.  This program focuses on Southern Connecticut issues of Bridgeport, Milford, Greenwich, Norwalk, Westport, Fairfield, etc.

News12 will not replace the anywhere, anytime local reporting of Neighborhood News.  The issues important to Litchfield County will be lost in the very different world of the State's "Gold Coast".

WE NEED and deserve the Neighborhood News report as an important way to communicate important local news. For many subscribers, Neighborhood News and the coverage of local issues is one of the last reasons to subscribe.

Let Altice USA know that the 23,500 subscribers of Optimum in our small part of Connecticut ARE IMPORTANT, that we LOVE their Optimum service but DEMAND they continue Neighborhood News!
