Sign this petition to allow Students to wear Cultural Attire at their Graduation.

3 years ago, Alpines School District in Utah, implemented what some are calling, a “no lei policy,” meaning that Pacific Islander students, were no longer able to wear leis, or cultural attire when walking, however this policy did not affect just Pacific Islander students, it affected anyone and everyone who tried to wear anything of their cultural identity like Natives, who were not allowed to wear Regalia, which is something that is apart of their culture.

This policy is extremely discriminatory and disappointing, not to mention that other school Districts like Jordan School District, are following up with this “trend.” One of the reasons for the implementation for this policy was that “kids were feeling left out.” For a school to try and say they’re “inclusive”, this policy is anything but the sort. So please, help & share this petition around. We need to make a change, this is absolutely unacceptable, and with graduation coming up in a couple of weeks, we need to make sure our kids are getting the treatment they deserve.
