Jackson County Schools should allow students to wear clothes that reveal their shoulders. Shoulders are not something that should be sexualized, as they are not considered a "private part" on someone's body. It is very uncommon for someone to be attracted to someone because of their shoulders. This regulation is teaching children that people are constantly sexualizing their bodies and as a community, we are normalizing it. Instead of telling kids that their body is too provocative, educate the students/staff that are disturbed by children wearing everyday clothes about students having the freedom to choose what they wish to wear and why it shouldn't concern them. The board of education has the power to change this regulation. By signing this petition we are one step further to creating a more up-to-date and welcoming school environment. Let students (especially girls) feel comfortable in their own skin!
