Allow early AP testing for Muslims observing Ramadan
This petition had 39 supporters
In preparation for AP exams, it is often recommended that students eat a fulfilling breakfast the morning of the exam. Breakfast is important in ensuring one's brain gains the energy needed to work at optimal capacity.
In 2018, AP exam dates are from May 7 to May 18. For many Muslims, this may pose a disadvantage. Ramadan, a month of fasting for Muslims, will begin around May 16. For Muslim students testing during the month of Ramadan, they will have to take their AP exams without having eaten breakfast, an obstacle that may affect Muslim students' abilities in doing well on their exams.
Late testing days are usually scheduled for the end of May. This is not an option, as the month of Ramadan wil not end until around June 14.
We ask that the Collegeboard may allow early AP testing for Muslim students taking AP exams during Ramadan.
Please share this petition to get the message to Collegeboard. Thank you for taking the time to read and support.
