I recently got a lunch detention for having my earbuds in, in that class I currently have an A, I follow all other rules, all i ask is that me and my fellow students are granted the privilege of being able to listen to music during instruction. It helps us focus better, and keeps me focused. 
we are not asking to play on our phone all class long, simply to be able to listen to music, like background noise during instruction.
