Allow chicken ownership within Prescott Valley

Allow chicken ownership within Prescott Valley
Why this petition matters
The city of Prescott Valley currently only allows for one chicken per half acre. The neighboring towns (Chino Valley and Prescott) do not have restrictions, nor does the county. I am starting this petition to inquire about interest in chicken ownership in Prescott Valley. If I am able to receive a significant amount of signatures, I can make a presentation to city council to request that the ordinance be updated. My proposal would allow for 7-10 chickens per 0.25 acre, but no roosters. This would also come with the understanding that the coop and pen be secure and cleaned on a regular basis to prevent odors.
Chickens are flock animals, so to allow for so few seems cruel. Also chickens generally only need approximately 3 square feet per chicken, so 0.25 acres is plenty of room to allow for more.
Lastly, eggs tend to be a dietary staple. With the rising price of groceries, having fresh eggs nearly every day is also peace of mind. Purchasing feed for the chickens ends up being cheaper in the long run than the current price of $6/dozen eggs.
Please consider signing to allow for chickens in the city of Prescott Valley!
