Hello, I just wanted to bring this to everyone’s attention. I am a student (going into junior year) and I feel like this should be talked about amongst the parents of students attending the high school for the 2022-2023 school year. With regards to the latest copy of the D30 one Central high school student handbook that came out today, it states that students are not permitted to carry their backpack or cell phone around with them at school. It states that these objects must be kept in a school issued locker. This to me, is a red flag but the next part of this is worse. In alignment with their locker policies, it states that the school District may search and seize any locker contents at any time, from anyone. This means, they have the right to search the Content of backpacks, personal notebooks, and most important of all the contents of of your students (including myself) Cellular device without any rhyme or reason. I find this to be a complete breach of privacy and I am curious to what everyone else on this form thinks. I understand that the school might respond and say they will not do this to just anyone without reason, but how it is stated in writing, it does not prevent them from doing so. From student groups, I know that I am not the only one that is experiencing this frustration.
