Allied Health Private Clinics need to viewed as ESSENTIAL by the McGowan Government
Private Practice Allied Health and Physiotherapy clinics play a pivotal role in our health care system. Unfortunately the WA state government doesnt see us as essential despite record hospital ramping, hospitals suffering constant code yellows and patients requiring urgent care sent on bypass to other medical facilities. Its astounding.
We are the only state in Australia where we are unable to do face to face consults for urgent care patients. Telehealth only allows us to manage 1-2% of our patient load, and is completely ineffective in managing a patient who requires critical care, who is then forced to present to already strained emergency departments. We play an important role in health care system, which other states recognise but Mr McGowan and Minister Cook dont.
Secondly despite our clinics effectively closed by 97-99% due to forced government closures, we dont qualify for ANY state government closure packages, despite the government sitting on record surpluses.
Our Premier has stated that forced closures and lockdowns will still occur if we get ANY covid-19 cases in our state, despite improving vaccination rates and no community spread for months. He further stated
" any covid-19 deaths are unacceptable".
We have tried to work with our State Health Minister, the Chief Health Officer and the Premier, but they arent listening.
