On August 4, 2017, two families lives were forever changed. My nephew , Deon Wells was working for ARC at a home in Kennedy Township. When his co-worker Timothy Maxom arrived to relieve the other gentlemen, he was clearly agitated due to the fact that one of the patients had to go the emergency room. He was cursing my nephew Deon out and being extremely aggressive and ignorant. Deon, tried to diffuse the situation and remove himself from the house and go sit in his car, hoping that Mr. Maxom would take the patient to the er and he could return to his duties in a peaceful manner. Instead Mr. Maxom came down behind him, calling him all kind of names, and threatening him. Deon was sitting in his car, and unlocked his glove compartment, and removed his concealed, registered firearm, that he also has a permit to carry. He ask Mr. Maxom to back up, he felt his life was being threatened. After all, we are talking about a 23 year old young, bi-racial man weighing 150 pounds, compared to a 50 year old Caucasian weighing in at 300 pounds. This is the point where Mr. Maxom lunged at him with 2 closed fists, and Deon pulled the trigger. I thank God everyday that my nephew was raised with moral, character, and compassion all of his 23 years. Deon immediately secured the gun on the roof of his car, called 911, and administered CPR until the police and the medics arrived on the scene. Unfortunately, Mr. Maxom died a few hours later at the hospital. The sheer nightmare has began for both families. The harassment then started for my sister through face book on Deon's face book page......over 250 derogatory and threatening remarks were made. As a family, we offered our condolences and prayed for their loss. It is 2017 and this incident occurred in Allegheny County where we have several judges under investigation for wrongfully convicting young men of color above sentencing guidelines. Deon is a young bi-racial man without a criminal record that has an impeccable work ethic and record in caring for handicapped young adults, which speaks volumes about his character. This is my Sister's only Son, and she is devastated behind the entire situation. We have exhausted every bit of savings that we have obtaining the legal defense of Blaine Jones. We want our Deon to come home without his record being tarnished and his life to move forward from this horrible nightmare. Deon did everything he was legally able to do and is still sitting in Jail. He deserves to be home with his family. He is legally able to defend himself , help bring him home
