Demand that Congress enforce the true function of the Electoral College

The only job the Electoral College is obligated to perform is to ensure the citizens of the United States elect a candidate who is appropriately qualified to serve as President. According to reference.com, "The electoral college consists of 538 electors, and of those, a candidate needs 270 votes to become president. Although the Founding Fathers wanted the people to have a say, there was concern that a charismatic tyrant could manipulate public opinion and come into power. Alexander Hamilton briefly addressed these concerns in the Federalist Papers. The idea was that the electors would be a group of people who would ensure that a qualified person would become president."

Donald Trump is the exact "charismatic tyrant" Alexander Hamilton was referring to when the 12th Amendment of our constitution was drafted. He is not qualified to lead our country, and the choices he has put forth for his cabinet only serve to further emphasize his true interests, to serve himself, not our country, as President. He has blatantly manipulated the nation, through fear, splitting even his own party. He uses fear to manipulate the very people he claims he will help, pitting neighbors against each other over imagined terrors. He claims all Muslims are terrorists, all Hispanics are rapists and drug dealers, and all women are free for his taking. He sees himself as a "war hero," because he went to military school and got a Purple Heart given to him by a supporter, yet publicly negates the sacrifices made daily by our servicemen and women and their families. How can he be expected to act as Commander in Chief? He believes society's rules don't apply to him, so how could he be expected to put his country first?

On November 9th, the people spoke, loud and clear - despite Donald Trump's manipulations, the people voted for Hillary Clinton to be our next President. The simple fact that she won the popular election by more than 2 Million votes shows the majority of the country want her to lead our nation, but the inequality of weight of electoral votes gave Donald Trump the majority needed to win the election. This inequality means your vote and my vote don't carry the same weight - the smaller the state, the more weight each person's vote carries, and most states are "winner-take-all," which makes it almost impossible for the Electoral College to function as it was intended to according to the Constitution.

Former Senator and Secretary of State Clinton has a recorded history spanning more than 35 years. She is a committed, proven leader who understands international law, diplomacy, and what it takes to successfully negotiate with the rest of the free world.

In contrast, President-elect Trump has a long history of usurping our country's laws to line his own pockets, taking advantage of those under him, scamming the very government he proposes to lead, and and willfully discriminating against his fellow citizens, based on race, religion, sex, and age, all violations of our Constitution. He uses fear to manipulate the very people he claims he will help, pitting neighbors against each other over imagined terrors. He claims all Muslims are terrorists, all Hispanics are rapists and drug dealers, and all women are free for his taking. He sees himself as a "war hero," because he went to military school and got a Purple Heart given to him by a supporter, yet negates the sacrifice made daily by our servicemen and women and their families. He has made it socially acceptable to discriminate against anyone who is "different" in any way. He has no respect for our military - how can he be expected to act as Commander in Chief? He believes society's rules don't apply to him - how could he be expected to put his country first?

Demand our Congress ensure the Electoral College upholds it's ONLY responsibility, to ensure a tyrant does not gain control of the Oval Office, by confirming Hillary Clinton as our 45th President on December 19, 2016, as specifically required by our U.S. Constitution.
