Car Manufacturers to Develop Modifications to Existing Vehicles to Meet ULEZ Standards

0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!

As you are aware the Mayor of London is proposing to extend the ULEZ  (Ultra-Low Emission Zone) to within greater London in 2021. This will impact between 500,000 to 1.6 million motorists in the capital.

All vehicles driving within the ULEZ will be required to conform to the new emissions standards, Euro 6 standard for diesel and Euro 4 standard for petrol, or pay a £12.50 daily charge for driving in the ULEZ.

Given the huge impact that this is going to have on motorists, I was bewildered to learn that none of the car manufacturers in the UK had thought about this and none of them have any type of modifications or retrofits available to make older vehicles comply to the new standards.

The technology is there and available as many of the Lorries and HGVs in the capital already have bespoke equipment fitted to meet with the current emissions standards.

My request is simple. We the undersigned request all car manufacturers in the UK to develop a solution whereby older vehicles can be modified and retrofitted with equipment to make the vehicles compliant with the latest emissions standards.

This will save thousands of motorists the cost and hassle of having to change their vehicles when the new standards come into place and also exempt them from having to pay the £12.50 daily charge. It will also be good for the environment and meet with the Mayor’s ambitions of lowering the levels of pollution in London.

Thank You

N.B: You can check if your vehicle complies to the new standards by finding out the Euro emissions category of your vehicle or by checking on the TFL website:
