Springs Brewery petition

Springs Brewery petition
As of July 16, 2021, the owner of Hampton Auto Collision at 847 Springs Fireplace Road in East Hampton has started the preliminary site plan approval process to turn the existing garage into a brewery, tap room, storage, indoor bar for 20 people, outdoor tables with seating, parking spaces, etc. To be known as Springs Brewery. This would be permitted only by "special permit".
They do not have enough parking and are proposing to borrow parking from Springs Pizza next door. What happens if that property changes ownership? The conceptual site plan proposes 19 parking spaces that are non-conforming at 9 x18 feet each, with one-way access only. Under Town Code parking requirements it is estimated that the site would need at least 20 conforming parking spaces. This is not possible, even with borrowed parking.
We do not oppose a stand alone brewery. We oppose the allowance of non-conforming parking, to indoor and outdoor seating, and to the consumption of alcohol on site.
This area on Springs Fireplace Road has more accidents than any other section. Many per year. Adding a bar will increase traffic, accidents, drunk driving, and forever change the rural feel of the area.
It will set precedent and potentially green light similar businesses to establish themselves easily.
In conjunction with the East Hampton Town Police, a 5 year report is being developed to illustrate the statistics for car accidents on Springs Fireplace Road, the number of accidents involving alcohol and drugs, and the number of alcohol and drug related arrests in the Springs.
