Why this petition matters
The whole world is horrified watching in the news the ruthless attack to the Ukrainian people by the Russian armed forces.
the sports community in different disciplines were quick to respond to this unprovoked aggression and the erratic behavior of Vlademir Putin. In fact, the IOC called for Russia and Belarus ban from international competitions; the international Ski Federation halted its World Cup events in Russia; the International Tennis Federation has cancelled all events in Russia indefinitely. In automobile racing, Formula 1 also cancelled its 2022 Russian Gran Prix; furthermore, the International Ice Hockey Federation has suspended all Russian and Belarusian national teams and clubs from participating in its events. Soccer, the most popular sports in the world, was not indifferent to this tragic situation, FIFA and UEFA were quick to ban the Russian National Team and all its soccer teams from all international competitions. The U. S. Soccers Federation joined other soccer organizations from around the world to repudiate Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Despite these multiple demonstrations, Gianni Infantino, the FIFA boss, remained very quiet in front of this situation. Let’s not forget that in 1918 Russian President V. Putting signed a decree to award Infantino with the “Russian Order of Friendship”. This is an award for “accomplishments in strengthening of INTER-ETHNIC AND INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP AND COOPERATION.....My humble request to all the people somehow involved in sports, is to ask Mr. Infantino for two things: a strong condemnation for the Russian attack and to return the award since it contradicts the action initiated by Putin.
