Port Hueneme has a rich and diverse culture, and the name of our city explains the advances made over time. The city seems to believe that by changing the name of our city, that it will some how create an economic boom and add vitality to it's residents,  when there is no absolutely no proof of this. We as residents must consider the long term negative affects of overcrowding our small city with tourism. Pollution, more crime,  and density of traffic. Revenue seems to be the consideration above reason. With our  city council overcrowding our city with marijuana despenceries, finances are at an all time high, and the name change does not justify the amount of traffic and congestion on weekends this will bring. Retiree's, the elderly, and many veterans live in this wonderful little city, and fully deserve a measure of peace also, and this unnecessary change will not afford them this. This is just one political maneuver that the city council is looking for to claim a victory for themselves. Please sign this petition to curb this nonesense the city hopes to impose on our wonderful city by the sea.
