To the Staff of All Saints Central,

We the students of the High School believe the cancellation of the Midterm Exams is needed. We have came up with multiple reasons on why cancellation is needed, and why it would boost morale it All Saints.

Our first reason is that we are not prepared for the Exams. Usually by now, we would have material to study with, but we have yet to receive these materials. Students throughout the High School are in agreement that only that the few days the teachers will allow us to study are not enough, and with what little material we have, some not at all, our expectations to perform well are low.

Our second reason is the lack on learning we have received under remote learning. The majority of students have stated that they have learned little, and have had problems with retaining what they have learned. Through sitting and only learning virtually, we have not grown in the ways we were during the period in which we were face to face with the teachers. Students are falling behind worse than they were when we were face to face, and many have yet to raise their grades.

Our third reason is of how virtual learning is playing out. While we like the idea, it hasn’t shown improvement in our learning, and to some, it has shown signs of further alienation from where they were in the beginning of the year mentally and psychologically wise.

Our fourth and final reason is that we believe it is only going to worsen our semester grades and that is unfair to undergo these exams while other schools around the area are not taking the exams. We understand the reasons to take the exams, but we respectfully disagree with them, believing they will only further deny our growth in learning and have a negative impact on the student body’s morale.

We thank you for reading this petition, and hope that you will understand our reasons and that midterm exams will be cancelled.
