Automatic voter registration
Automatic voter registration
College aged students make up a significant portion of our society however, few are registered voters and even fewer vote during elections. That being stated, if we are able to implement automatic voter registration, through Arizona Public Universities, college aged students, the newest members of our democracy, are increasingly more likely to come out during election cycles. Campus Vote Project, in 2019, reported that College aged student (18-29) make up about a fourth of our voting eligible population. With this section of our population voting, being made up of racially and ethically diverse student bodies more proportionate to our entire population than ever, it could potentially and likely close our equity gaps in overall political participation. Automatic voter registration would not only encourage, create and add college aged voters to the voices heard through the voting process but it would inspire and motivate these current students to become habitual voters for the rest of their lives. Voting is not only a civic duty and privilege but it is a wonderful way to become knowledgable and involved in the wonderful country we live in.
