I go back to Sdteel Mill days & Dr.Zoom + I booked Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes in 1976. There was a similar club that By ed g D'Amico, Bruce Springsteen & Debbie Drewes, & I, Ray Miller, Jr., would be at....eff with Bruce on lead & Greg playing bass. The location still stands nearby the post office in Red Bank on Broad St.,NJ USA

Saving the Upstage is vital to the future of Asbury Park because the Upstage was vital to birth of the rock and soul era of the Asbury music scene. "Know History!" rather than "No History."

I'm signing because The Upstage should be preserved. It MUST be preserved!

Saving The Upstage is as important as Sun Records in Memphis and the Cavern Club in Liverpool!

Saving The Upstage would be huge for preserving Asbury Park's unique place in America's musical history for generations to come, not to overlook the tourism money to be had.

Yes, Asbury Park still has The Stone Pony, Wonder Bar, Paramount Theatre and Convention Hall . . . BUT, The Upstage was the Incubator for all the local musicians to refine their talents and in some cases, became great, uh, Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes, uh, Bruce Springsteen!

Where would Asbury Park's tourism business be since the race riots way back, were it not for The Upstage and Springsteen, Southside Johnny and so many other talented local musicians who honed their craft in The Upstage?
It's just 1 3-story building on a corner on Cookman Avenue - preserve The Upstage!

Besides, does Asbury Park REALLY want to let Belmar whoop them with the big replica of Springsteen's famed guitar planted on the corner of 10th Avenue and E Street?
