As someone who is an ocean lover and also works in retail, it’s heartbreaking to see people still buying plastic carrier bags instead of choosing to be more responsible and bringing their own reusable bag.  I’m sure I can’t be the only retail worker who feels conflicted by selling plastic carrier bags and I always try my best to deter people by asking if they NEED to buy a bag but sadly that’s not enough.

The facts

It’s estimated that 1 billion plastic bags were sold in the uk last year. There are believed to be 46,000 pieces of plastic in every square mile of our ocean and 100,000 of our treasured marine creatures a year die from plastic entanglement .
