The coal and gas industries have deceived us for decades by not telling what they knew about global climate instability. We'll get to them later. Nevertheless, we are in an unprecedented time of threat. The powers continue to open new wells, despite what we now know, and carbon levels continue to rise.

I believe we remain sentient beings and are beginning to sense the loss of biodiversity and the threat to our grandchildren's future safety and mental health. They will either experience climate destruction, or witness suffering on a global scale, as we are seeing now.

We can ignore, blame, and deny, however the carbon levels in our atmosphere will continue to rise until we begin to behave differently. The macro powers (business and government) really need to do their part, many activists are lobbying both to try to get them to take action: never underestimate "grass roots".

Today I'm taking a pledge and I hope you will join me:

I understand what this may mean for some of us. I flew back to see my aging parents year after year, so I can't criticize others. Consider using Skype at holiday time, it's fun! (Guys: think of all the family stuff this will get you out of....) Take the pledge, we'll all feel better!
