Why this petition matters

Started by Aaron Sims

We have long-term issues with voting in this country. Each election shows, on average, of voter turnout ranging from 53% to 63% of all eligible voters. This isn't always due to voter apathy nor laziness but rather, access. Much has been done to attempt to increase physical access to voters across this country with little avail. One of the pressing issues contributing to this problem exists in the form of long term ramifications left over from Jim Crow era laws which have stunted generations in the South and elsewhere from voting more regularly.

With this petition, we plan to modernize how people vote in this country. Living in the 3rd decade of the 21st century, with the ability to purchase nearly anything we can think of online or electronically, there is really no excuse not to also have the option to vote this way as well. We want to propose that the Federal Government establishes a multi-option way of voting in all future US elections. This would include voting online, through the mail, in person and even over-the-phone.

By expanding how people can vote, this will create an ease of access for all eligible voters wanting to participate in American democracy.
