We, as residents of a once quiet and safe neighborhood,  hereby STRONGLY OPPOSE the proposed rezoning of 106 Charles Jackson street,  Weavind park (ERF 158), to operate as a guest house.

The reasons for our opposing the above mentioned, is as follows:

1. Illegal Land use:

As from October 2020,  the property was advertised on the internet as: The Palace
Guesthouse & Garden Restaurant (website: http://the palaceguesthouse.com) and
accordingly operated as a business – including the selling of alcohol and providing meals, WITHOUT A LEGAL PERMIT

2. Noise pollution:

Right from the very beginning of this 'guest house' operating (without a legal permit), residents have lodged SEVERAL complaints with TMPD and SAPS.  A meeting was held at SAPS on 10 November 2020, in which the owner's husband was informed by Lt Col.MAKGOPA that they are NOT allowed to operate. THIS WAS IGNORED AND EVEN DURING LOCKDOWN (LEVEL 3 IN DECEMBER 2020), ADVERTISEMENTS FOR AN OPEN AUDIENCE POOL PARTY AND CHRISTMAS FUNCTION WERE POSTED

3. Safety concerns:

We are a close knit community, looking out for the safety of each other.

We are now experiencing the presence of unknown persons in our area,  by the hour, 24x7, YELLING AND SCREAMING, WHICH IS VERY DISTURBING AND DISRUPTING.

Several residents have witnessed drinking and driving,  sometimes these 'guests' even get into their vehicles while still drinking and speeding away.

This results in a huge concern for the safety of our elderly and children.

THERE ARE SEVERAL REASONS FOR US OPPOSING THE REZONING OF 106 CHARLES JACKSON STREET.  RESIDENTS WILL ADD THEIR OWN COMMENTS AND OBSERVATIONS.
