Hello & thank you for taking the time to stop & read. I am the mother of a young man who was senselessly murdered by the act of gun violence. My initiative is to put an end to gun violence.
I also am determined to ensure those who harm , assault or kill others by the use of guns have stiffer penalties for their actions. Please partner with me & Let’s put a demand on this action! So many lives are taken , and families have to suffer the excruciating  pain from their loved ones whether dying or imprisonment. Unfortunately , My sons life was snatched & he  is no longer here to speak for himself, so for this very reason  I vow to work sun up to sun down to let his voice still be heard. I humbly ask that you please stand with me as” Alonte’s Voice”! By signing this petition; it will help us to seek justice & a fair trial.  Every signature stands in place as “ Alonte’s voice “.  We are demanding Justice and like so many others ; we are ensuring that the life taken is not ignored & treated like an actual life & not just a number. My amazing son, who I love and miss so much , Alonte Shipp was violently murdered on 8/23/21 in front of our home.  Alonte was only 20 years old .” My son was shot 10 times over a misunderstanding in which was totally uncalled for. As Alonte looked in my eyes slowly withering away gasping for air  he said “ I don’t want to die.” No mother should have to endure the pain and feel the emptiness that I feel daily. My sons last moments of life replay in my head daily. I carried my son for 9 months , gave birth to him , held him & watched him cry as a proud mother . 20 years later, The very  same life that I brought into this world , I helplessly ,  literally watched depart this life, leaving me broken , feeling lost , and indescribably incomplete.   My youngest son 5 years of age also witnessed the horrific scene of his hero , his big  brothers body being lifted from my living room into the ambulance . His perpetrator came to my home and murdered my son in cold blood . The young man  is in currently in  custody however is currently being charged with only  a “possession of a firearm” . What about the life he took?  Personally , It doesn’t matter what it was over, no one deserves to die. No matter who you are you should be held accountable for your actions . Carrying a “ unlicensed “firearm in my opinion says you have an intent to illegally use it.    Since that day not only did this young man take my sons life , but  shattered my life;  as well as my family’s life . Alonte was a young man’ destined for greatness . He had a promising career in football & was eager to start his second year in college days before he was murdered . Alonte was loved by so many and was special in so many ways. I know that I can’t get my son back but my hope is that we as a people can take a stand together and make a difference .This is a great  hurt & major loss. No one deserves to have their life taken , nor no should one’s actions be ignored! We as “ Alonte’s Voice” will fight for justice for all!  We will take a stand against gun violence and make sure that the law applies to those who break it ! It is my hope that those who look to use their forearm in an illegal manner think twice before doing so because the repercussion will be great. If someone’s life is taken, the person who took the life should spend the rest of their life regretting their unwise decision , INCARCERATED! Period!
