Why this petition matters

Please help to keep Chester zoo open. The government has ordered that it may have to stay closed indefinitely. It is a huge outdoor site with all the necessary safety measures in place to reopen to the public.Your allowed to go to the beach and public parks which have no safety measures, but you can’t go to the zoo. Chester zoo is the biggest and most popular charity zoo which was opened in 1931. It is extremely popular with both adults and children, it is a wonderful day out. Schools use the zoo a lot for trips which are very educational for the children. Their learning resources have helped a lot of home-schooling families during lock down.
Not being able to open is having a huge impact on the much loved zoo. They are heading towards debt in excess of 24 million by the end of 2020, they need to raise 1.6 millions a month to keep going. It’s not helping that the government won’t let them open.It would be a crying shame to see it shut indefinitely. All my family have been members of the zoo, and now my grandchildren are members. Chester zoo is the most visited zoo in the uk. It is also a conservation and education charity committed to preventing extinction. Please help save our zoo.
