Alabama Greek Picnic Takes Birmingham

Throughout the nation, people from all over the world travel to Greek picnics and festivals. Those of us in Alabama typically frequent picnics in cities, such as Dallas, New Orleans, and Atlanta. With over 60 colleges and universities and a strong National Pan-Hellenic presence throughout the state, it is a surprise that Alabama does not have an annual event for black Greeks, their friends, and families to gather. The Alabama Greek Picnic will do just that!

Birmingham is a bustling southern metropolis. In addition to a rich history, it boosts fine restaurants, shopping, art, and entertainment. Yet, year after year, Alabamians travel to other destinations near and far to meet with members of the National Pan-Hellenic Council. These events have from 3,000-180,000 attendees, bringing the cities $10,000's-$100,000's in revenue. The Alabama Greek Picnic has the potential to attract the same attention and revenue to Birmingham and surrounding areas. Alabamians will have an opportunity to socialize, network, and assist the community locally. This event will also increase tourism, save locals on travel expenses, and bring/keep revenue in the state.

The Alabama Greek Picnic will be held August 3-5, 2018. The weekend will consist of events for all ages, including various community service projects, picnic, concert, night-life entertainment, and spiritual worship. We will also feature vendors from throughout the South Eastern United States. As a result of the benefits that this event will bring to the city and its residents, the promotional committee for the Alabama Greek Picnic is requesting that the City of Birmingham to support our endeavors to host this weekend long event.
