Franckie F started this petition to Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and

I don't know how far this petition would go. Maybe further than i can possibly imagine. Maybe not. But this is my first step to realizing one of my purpose on this earth. Fighting for human rights. And believing that one person can hopefully cause a ripple effect of positive change and inspire others to do the same. YOUR VOICE, NO MATTER HOW SMALL OR BIG CAN SPARK CHANGE. So here we go.

I am just a young black man who is tired. Thats it. Tired of seeing things that need change. Tired of seeing corporations make money of the backs of the weak and defenceless. Tired of seeing people jailed for crimes that do no merit the sentencing. Whether you black, or latino or white or brown, you don't deserve to be a slave to a system that is making money off of you. And for young black and latino men, 1 in 3 grow up in prison. Sometimes for crimes that the sentencing itself makes zero sense. Other times for crimes that they didn't even commit.

Aren't you tired of seeing a system that literally destroys lives rather than help it? Should prison systems in America be the way they are? What do you know about the prison system in America? If you have no idea watch the 13TH Amendment on Youtube. Its free. If you have watched it, aren't you tired? That leads me to this

After watching material and researching the mass incarceration rate in America, as well as having a clear understanding of how corporations and the state benefit for the incarceration of POC, I have come to an understanding that, one of the first frontiers of changing the system is by either reforming/rewriting or abolishing the law, which in effect is the 13th Amendment. We all can agree that, this particular has done more harm than good. So i beg the question; why is it still in place?

For those who have no idea what the law says "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."

Slavery was abolished (so they say) but we stand today knowing that it hasn't, but redefined.

This petition hereby ask lawmakers to take a look at it and find a solution which does not perpetuate and pushes for more inmates but to also look at those in the prison system who have been greatly affected by it. The use of inmates for free labor is SLAVERY. Corporations like Amazon, CCA, Walmart have benefited from this.

How do we fix this? how do we move forward?

Calling on the world to help sign this and force lawmakers to make decisions.
