So many families and hard working people are being devastated by deportation. Section 245(i) was established in 1994 and expired in 1998. 245(i) allowed people who entered the U.S. illegally to be granted legal status through a immigration petition or a labor certification. This was such an important part of our immigration system as it allowed families to remain together as certain members might not have entered the U.S. legally and would allow them to obtain a legal status without leaving the country. This section also ensured that hardworking people were being granted legal status through a labor certification. People often ask the question "how do we know the people we allow in our country are good people" or "how do we know they are hardworking and will contribute to our economy", THIS IS HOW. Currently, people who entered the United States illegally will not be able to obtain legal status while remaining in the country due to their current status. Help bring back 245(i) to keep our hard working brothers and sisters in our country and keep families together!!
