Voters are faced with a challenging dilemma due to the health risks of the Covid-19 global pandemic. If they vote in person, they may jeopardize their health. If they stay home, they relinquish one of the most fundamental responsibilities of citizenship — casting a vote in an election and making their voices heard. Although voting by mail is an option, millions of voters prefer to vote in person for a variety of reasons. Voter turnout in the United States is one of the lowest in the industrialized world. Given the health concerns of Covid-19, voter turnout is likely to be even lower than in past election cycles. During the 1918 Spanish Flu Pandemic, election day voter turnout dropped by more than 10%.

  Voters with disabilities have the option of drive-through, curbside voting. Due to health concerns, this option should be available to all citizens.

Our self-rule is dependent on accessible, fair, elections in which each citizen’s voice can be heard.
