Improved road safety on Southwood Road, SE9
0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!
Southwood Road, SE9 is a very busy residential road with traffic lights at each end and no additional traffic calming measures.
Drivers do not always adhere to the speed limit of 30 mph and residents have reported dangerous driving.
There is a primary school and a nursery on the road as well as a primary school just around the corner. This, coupled with the location of train station, means that there are large numbers of walking commuters at various points during the day.
A number of accidents have occurred on the road which may have been avoided if traffic calming measures were in place.
A number of other local roads, which are not as busy as Southwood Road, have traffic calming measures already in place.
As pupils of St Olave’s Prep School we are concerned for our own safety and the safety of all people who use this road as either a walker or a driver and would urge you to sign our petition.
We would like to ask the council to consider introducing a 20mph zone, a speed camera and/or a speed safety notice. We would also ask for additional crossing points along the road to be considered.
