Save PACA Sixth Form
If PACA 6 closes until 2022 as is the current proposal, this means that local students will not be provided with the small, supportive and individualised Sixth Form education as promoted as an alternative to the larger alternatives across the city. Many current year 11 students from PACA and from other schools have already applied, and as the closing date is yet to close, final numbers cannot be confirmed as too low. What figures have been deemed as acceptable for the last few years? Deadlines for other colleges have passed, and even if late applications are accepted, there is no guarantee that interviews will lead to offers, as places are not finite. Travel is also a huge issue for many students who had opted to attend their local community sixth form college, as other colleges aren't as accessible or don't offer the correct A Levels. This proposal has come out of the blue and at a time when the current year 11 students should be focusing on their studies with only 68 school days left before their GCSE's, it's unacceptable to make last minute changes to their future educational plans.
For the first time in many years, the majority of students applying to PACA opted for it as their first option despite the ability and potential to attend BHASVIC and Varndean. However, they believed that PACA sixth form provided them with the smaller and more accustomed environment for them. Please show your support not only for the students who are left severely disappointed, but for the community and the future of PACA Sixth Form.
