The Kishoge C.C. Green-School's committee and school community would like to petition Aldi, Lidl and Tesco to introduce compostable vegetable bags instead of disposal plastic vegetable bags. Aldi, Lidl and Tesco hold a large stake in the supermarket arena and should lead as an example in this area. SuperValu, a major competitor, introduced compostable vegetable bags in 2018, so we believe it is more than time that Aldi and Lidl catch up and play an active role in Ireland's Climate Action movement. This will hugely reduce the amount of single use plastic in circulation, for example SuperValu removed 2.7 million plastic vegetable bags since 2018.
