Why this petition matters

Started by Marguerite Lowe

We, the tenants of Baric Commons, located 232 East 121st Place is requesting some help from our Alderman and City of Chicago for the neglect of our landlord(s). We have been living with no heat, pest infested units (mice and roaches), there has been no one to fulfill the work orders that are being requested, the garbage bins in parking lot areas stay filled to capacity all the time to where we have to place garbage on ground (which causes more infestation of rodents), leaking ceilings, bad plumbing, no working appliances, no screens for windows and have been told that People Gas will be shutting off our gas, even though we're in good standing, due to Baric Commons past due bill with them. Our main entrance doors has no locks which is putting our families in danger of break-ins. We are being told that there is no funding to fix units as needed and that they can not help with the infestation of pest due to living by the train tracks. We are asking for someone to help us immediately. There's no way that we, paying tenants, should have to live like this. We feel that Baric Commons should hire more maintenance staff to fulfill work orders in a timely fashion. They should have mice traps on hand as need for residence or come around weekly and place poison down to control the infestation. They should have garbage removal services. And most importantly they should talk to us and treat us as paying tenants that has rights.
