Cast me as Garfield instead of Chris Pratt
Chris Pratt has once again been cast to voice an iconic character in an animated movie, this time being a Garfield film as the titular character. While, understandably, companies such as Alcon Entertainment wish to cast high profile individuals for publicity and profit, Chris Pratt certainly has enough money and fame (not to mention controversy) to last him the rest of his life.
I think that we let somebody who either has some experience within the voice acting industry or somebody completely new take on the role of the lasagna loving tabby and I believe that I, Noah Dowsett, would be a great fit for the role. I may not be famous or hugely experienced, but an opportunity like this would be absolutely life-changing. As an 18-year-old British male, I believe I could put a great spin on the character while relating to him on a deeper scale - I love to sleep, I love lasagna, and I believe Mondays are the worst. Also, a British Garfield in an American world would both provide a charming reference to Garfield 2 (2006), while still retaining a level of comedy you would expect from a Garfield movie.
Regardless of whether the casting is changed, it's disappointing to see talented individuals not get a chance to shine, while already high-profile celebrities consistently get roles that could perhaps even be performed better by other people. At the very least, it'd be nice to see some variety in the casting of who will play characters that are so beloved across all generations. Please consider signing, even if it's just to make a statement.
