Angelina Sanchez started this petition to Albuquerque and

Albuquerque, New Mexico. Adrian Sanchez was involved in stealing (possibly) two cars. He led the police on a chase and ended up crashing the car. They want to try him as an adult and put him away for 17.5 years. If he is tried as a juvenile he will stay in until he is 18, and most likely parole after that. My brother is a good kid and has been through a lot his whole life. He was born addicted to drugs, our parents left us, and we struggled to help our grandparents raise us after our mom died when he was 8 and I was 11. We have two other siblings. Two of us are in college, my other sister graduated highschool at 16. My grandparents are both retired professors. My brother was in an emotional state. One of his friends got killed by the police last month. Two of his other friends were kidnapped and killed last month as well. Rehabilitation can do wonders for anyone, and just like it did for me and my siblings I know he can get past his traumatic experiences. He’s always been a friend to anyone, has manners, we all grew up not just going to church but serving in it. He helped anyone. Helping his friends do this one thing, might effect the rest of his life. The rest of my whole family’s lives. My grandparents shouldn’t have to wait 17.5 years to see him succeed. My daughter will be born in April and she is going to have to go visit jail just like I did when I was younger, to see a family member. We were so close to a better life. It was a mistake and he knew it when he did it. It was pressure, but he would have never killed anyone. He would never intently want that. There were no bullets in the gun. There were more people involved and his sentence is the only one being tried as an adult. (As far as I know so far.) Many of the other kids got away. I’d trade him places anyday. I’m studying Criminal justice and I’d become a corrections officer at wherever he ends up just to make sure he wasn’t lonely, if I could. That’s all we’ve ever felt that leads to stuff like this. We’ve always had problems but we’ve always wanted to stop criminals not become them. He didn’t try to go take vengeance like a criminal would, when his friends died, when his mom died, when he was at his lowest. He helped others, and supported others, he helped his family. My little brother was my big brother. He helped me change my path. He has tried so hard and anybody can talk to him and realize that. We are very sorry to the family this happened but in all reality we are those people that you could have called and you could have gotten a 3X better car just because we felt bad. My car has been stolen several times in Albuquerque. My friends have been raped, my friends have been killed. Albuquerque has to know, we go through a lot. I know the difference between someone too dangerous from the streets and someone that just got caught up in the wrong things. Every parent should feel this, if your kid lives in abq. 5/10 they have taken the car out of for joyrides, or stolen from stores. These habits can be fixed. Putting him in jail and trying him as an adult will stear him to wrong path. I know the people can’t do much, but if you can do anything please do. God has always had our back too. I will pray Albuquerque and everybody involved in the case can see the truth behind it. Please help our family, that’s all we’ve ever wanted. It’s been 7 years since our mom died. My sister moved out, they both went to boarding school. We’ve been trying. We need time. My grandparents don’t deserve to see another one of their kids gone.
