Daylight savings is an outdated tradition that does more harm than good. For example, heart attacks, car accidents, and ER visits all increase for 24hrs after we change our clocks either forwards or backwards. It takes two weeks for our circadian rhythm to adjust, meaning workers are less productive, people are more moody, and depression and other mental health issues can be exasperated.

Originally started to allow there to be more daylight during the warmer months for farmers, Daylight Savings has become outdated with the advent of modern technology. Additionally, if we end Daylight Savings Time after "spring forward" we will still have more daylight during summer months. Alberta might have a lot of farmers, but they also do not need to use Daylight Savings anymore. In fact, another province very similar to Alberta in agriculture - Saskatchewan - no longer uses Daylight Savings Time.

So what do you say Alberta? Let's get rid of Daylight Savings for once and for all for our health and sanity.
