vanessa Sheppard started this petition to Alberta's person's with developmental disabilities PDD

I have a very wonderful young women I worked with for 6 years

She was born with fetal alcohol syndrome she is a renal patient she has seizures she struggles with drug addiction

I got to know her well

She has been on the streets of vancouver do to the care she was receiving from government supports

She has had far to many workers but not one of them would take the time to go take her off the streets

And show her she is worth it

But I did even though I have two kids and I would be payed for her being absent and not being there for our shift

I would go to the streets and tell her she deserves a happy life like all of us do

She cried and told me all she wanted was someone to come and take her home

She had wished it be her mom but she never came

But me I did numerous times I know all her medical history as well as medical needs I am certified

But yet they wont let me care for her even at her request

But yet I'm the one that takes her to and from dialysis, meetings, doctors appointments ect

I cook clean do her laundry pretty much everything I did in vancouver as her worker

I sold my home in Surrey B.C to move to a more affordable home in Red Deer Alberta

One year later she called me from the grey hound saying she is here in Red Deer and that I need to pick her up

Saying if she did not come to me she would die on the streets of Surrey my heart was heavy

I had to pick her up now it's been on ongoing battle trying to stay by her side and give her the care she desperately deserves

It's just sad she needs to spend most of her life with people she does not get along with

Workers they come and go I think they should have say on who they spend their days with
