Albany schools needs to offer gymnastics as a sport!

Research shows that the most successful students have developed not only strong cognitive skills, thanks to academic programs, but strong "soft skills" - those skills that teach them how to manage time, develop leadership skills and assist them to become productive parts of our community.

The Albany Community Ed has offered gymnastics classes for beginner gymnastics.  These classes are filled quickly and additional classes have been added.  Unfortunately they are only beginner classes.  But based on the participation of these classes the people in the community want the opportunity to participate in higher levels of gymnastics.

Gymnastics programs in neighboring school districts are extremely successful - athletically as well as academically. While High School gymnastics is a winter sport, a junior feeder program could be offered year-round through community education which would definitely bring in income INTO the district.  A state of the art facility is not necessary.

A gymnastics team could be a very successful athletic team in in our district.  The interest of parents and children is overwhelming. Please help us by supporting our request to offer Gymnastics in Albany.

We are a respectful community, please keep your comments factual and respectful.
