Porceha Mullins started this petition to Albany Control System

On March 15, 2020 the Department of Corrections suspended all visits indefinitely. There is no set date when visits will restart. Video visits have begun only for the youths in the Manson Youth and York facilities this means that only the youth inmate population are the only ones that have another means of contact besides letters and phone calls. This should not be happening the adult inmate population should have the same access to video visits. While it is great that parents can actually see their incarcerated children, also Rikers Island inmates are in title to video visits the rest of us loved ones on the outside should be afforded the same right. Visits are known to have a positive impact on inmates while they are inside and greatly help reduce recidivism when they are released.

The fact that the loved ones of the inmates cannot see their loved ones even if it's only on a screen is a total disregard for the feelings for both the inmates and their loved ones

The fact that the Federal government has implemented free call and video visits throughout the entire system. Albany says they are a leader in prison reform however all we got was 2 free calls.

Albany needs to step up, we ( the prisoners and the families) are thankful for getting tablets however to this date the inmates do not receive all our emails Pictures an videos.

This petition is asking for free video visits to be temporialy  implemented in all Albany state prison and jails until in person visits resume.
