It's time we acknowledge the negative connotations to our past and come up with fresh outlooks. I don't really care for the design of the new version as presented, however. I think it could have something on it that represents the state better. For example, the state mammal is the beaver. Maybe a simple representation of this animal could encompass our history that will include the natives who were here long before first contact.
